My name is Katie Levine, and after spending years as an amateur wine lover, a chance opportunity to live abroad in Europe allowed me to dive deeper into the world of wine, exploring different wine regions in person and turning my pastime into a passion. I pursued formal wine education through the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and informal education from frequent trips and long discussions with the incredible folks working at my neighborhood wine shop. I’m now certified WSET Level 3 with Merit and am partway through the WSET Diploma program.
Looking back at my wine journey, I often wish I had pursued wine education sooner, but unfortunately intimidation and not knowing exactly where to start held me back. I am all too well aware of how not wanting to seem stupid can hold you back from asking questions, exploring new wines, or even classifying yourself as a wine-lover. As a result, I am very passionate about helping others explore wine in an unintimidating way. No one is born with innate knowledge about wine, so there’s no shame in not knowing everything and wanting to learn more!
