These olives are making me thirsty…

Yesterday I had the chance to visit La Cave à Manger by Winery.be on its re-opening day on Place Brugmann. What a gem. From the interesting wine list that pushes you to try something new, to the delicious snacks that keep you wanting to drink more, this is everything you’d want in a neighborhood wine bar.

The two highlights of the menu were these simple, salty black olives that were devoured in no time, and this white Haut Berba, a wine so unusual it isn’t even on Vivino…and it has 15.5% alcohol. In a white wine. Enough said. I couldn’t resist taking a bottle home so will do a full review at some point.

Beyond the offerings, the relaxed yet buzzy atmosphere and excellent service (a rarity in Brussels!) put this place over the top. We sat outside and the staff was making sure groups weren’t sitting too close together to comply with covid restrictions.
Do you have any other Brussels wine bar recommendations? What about in your home town?
What do you look for in a great wine bar? Tell me!!

I gotta have snacks to nibble on when I go to a wine bar. I wish we could go to screwtop together and get their macaroni and cheese.
